1.Information We Collect
When you become a member of VALSECRETS we will collect some personal information from you such as: name, email address, country, location, occupation, schools attended etc.
1A.How We Collect
Some of the information we receive is through the registration process. When you agree to become an ValSecrets member we ask you to provide this personal information. Additionally, we use cookies and other technologies to recognize you and uniquely identify your browser. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, but you can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. We also automatically receive such information as IP address, your type of browser and ISP.
1B.Why We Collect?
This information allows us to customize your experience and the advertisements you see, to store your preferences and record session information. The information we collect is used for internal review to improve the content of our Website, to conduct research and analysis to help improve your experience, to ensure the technical functionality of our circle, and to create and develop new ideas and services for our members.
If you do not want to receive e-mail from us in the future, please let us know by sending us an e-mail to this address: privacy@valsecrets.com. We will never sell, rent or otherwise provide your personal identifiable information to any third parties for marketing purposes. We will however use your email to communicate with you and notify you of promotional happenings such as events and other special offers such as discounts from our brand partners.
If you supply us with your postal address on-line you may receive periodic mailings from us with information on new products and services or upcoming events. If you do not wish to receive such mailings, please let us know by emailing us at privacy@valsecrets.com
Please provide us with your exact name and address if you write to us. We will be sure your name is removed.
From time to time, we may use personal information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. In such event, we will post the policy changes to our Web site to notify you of these changes and we will use for these new purposes only data collected from the time of the policy change forward. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at our Web site periodically.
2. Guidelines regarding children
Personal information about children is a concern for all of us. At ValSecrets, we take the protection of children's privacy very seriously. ValSecrets does not encourage participation or visitation by children. Visitors who are known to be under the age of 13 are prohibited from becoming a member. Anyone under the age of eighteen is discouraged from participating in any sex related chats or emails and we ask that no one less than eighteen years of age become a community volunteer.
2A. Children Between the Ages of 13 and 18
We recommend that minors 13 years of age or older ask their parents for permission before sending any information about themselves to anyone over the Internet.
3. Sharing Your Information with Third Parties
ValSecrets is about sharing information with others — Neighbors and people in your circle. We allow you to choose the information you provide to your neigbors and circles through ValSecrets. Our circle architecture and your privacy settings allow you to make informed choices about who has access to your information. We do not provide contact information to third party marketers without your permission. We share your information with third parties only in limited circumstances where we believe such sharing is 1) reasonably necessary to offer the service, 2) legally required or 3) permitted by you. For example:
- Your comments may aggregate the information you provide and make it available to your Neighbors and circle members according to your privacy settings.
- ValSecrets does give access to the site information by third party search engine "crawlers" (e.g. Google, Yahoo, Live Search, Ask). ValSecrets takes action to block access by these engines to personal information beyond your name, Profile picture and limited aggregated data about your Profile
- We may provide information to service providers to help us bring you the services we offer. Specifically, we may use third parties to facilitate our business, such as to host the service at a co-location facility for servers, to send out email updates about ValSecrets, to remove repetitive information from our user lists, to process payments for products or services, to offer an online job application process, or to provide search results or links (including sponsored links). In connection with these offerings and business operations, our service providers may have access to your personal information for use for a limited time in connection with these business activities. Where we utilize third parties for the processing of any personal information, we implement reasonable contractual and technical protections limiting the use of that information to the ValSecrets-specified purposes.
- We occasionally provide demonstration accounts that allow non-users a glimpse into the ValSecrets world. Such accounts have only limited capabilities (e.g. messaging is disabled) and passwords are changed regularly to limit possible misuse.
- We may be required to disclose user information pursuant to lawful requests, such as subpoenas or court orders, or in compliance with applicable laws. We do not reveal information until we have a good faith belief that an information request by law enforcement or private litigants meets applicable legal standards. Additionally, we may share account or other information when we believe it is necessary to comply with law, to protect our interests or property, to prevent fraud or other illegal activity perpetrated through the ValSecrets service or using the ValSecrets name, or to prevent imminent bodily harm. This may include sharing information with other companies, lawyers, agents or government agencies.
- We let you choose to share information with marketers or electronic commerce providers through on-site offers.
- We may offer stores or provide services jointly with other companies on ValSecrets. You can tell when another company is involved in any store or service provided on ValSecrets, and we may share customer information with that company in connection with your use of that store or service.
- ValSecrets Beacon is a means of sharing actions you have taken on third party sites, such as when you make a purchase or post a review, with your Neighbors on ValSecrets. In order to provide you as a ValSecrets user with clear disclosure of the activity information being collected on third party sites and potentially shared with your Neighbors on ValSecrets, we collect certain information from that site and present it to you after you have completed an action on that site. You have the choice to have ValSecrets discard that information or to share it with your Neighbors.
When you use ValSecrets, certain information you post or share with third parties (e.g. a friend or someone in your circle), such as personal information, comments, messages, photos, videos, Marketplace listings or other information, may be shared with other users in accordance with the privacy settings you select. All such sharing of information is done at your own risk. Please keep in mind that if you disclose personal information in your Profile or when posting comments, messages, photos, videos, Marketplace listings or other items, this information may become publicly available.
4. Links
ValSecrets may contain links to other websites. We are of course not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by ValSecrets.
5. Third Party Advertising
Advertisements that appear on ValSecrets are sometimes delivered (or "served") directly to users by third party advertisers. They automatically receive your IP address when this happens. These third party advertisers may also download cookies to your computer, or use other technologies such as JavaScript and "web ads” to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalize advertising content. Doing this allows the advertising circle to recognize your computer each time they send you an advertisement in order to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalize advertising content. In this way, they may compile information about where individuals using your computer or browser saw their advertisements and determine which advertisements are clicked. ValSecrets does not have access to or control of the cookies that may be placed by the third party advertisers. Third party advertisers have no access to your contact information stored on ValSecrets unless you choose to share it with them.
This privacy policy covers the use of cookies by ValSecrets and does not cover the use of cookies or other tracking technologies by any of its advertisers.
We reserve the right to revise or update this policy at any time.
We may disclose and use personally identifiable and other information in special circumstances where it is necessary to enforce our terms and conditions, policies and agreements, to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, and to protect against imminent harm to the rights, property or safety of VALSECRETS. We may also disclose and use personally identifiable and other information when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires us to do so.
