For years, many people have viewed juice as a health food, when in reality, juice (whether it's 100% fruit juice or not) still contains more calories and just as much sugar as regular soda! And, like soda, their is research that suggests that a high consumption of juice can increase the risk of obesity, especially in children. Juice contains the same amount of sugar as eating several pieces of fruit (1 cup apple juice= sugar from six apples) which causes it to be a calorically-dense beverage. For instance, a cup of OJ has about 112 calories, apple juice has 114 calories, and grape juice 152 calories. Whereas, a cup (8oz) of cola has about 100 calories. And, just like soda, juice in high in fructose (a simple sugar that is processed quickly by the liver and stored as fat). On the other hand, when you eat the whole fruit your body has more time to process and digest the sugar in order to convert it to energy and not fat. Also, by eating the whole fruit you're getting fiber and more antioxidants and phytochemicals to boost your immunity...Therefore, my suggestion is EAT THE FRUIT and AVOID THE JUICE!

Wonderful secret! I remember going to the store and picking up my favorite, 100% Cranberry juice. I just happen to turn it around and saw the calories in it. WOWZA! I had no idea. I got some fresh limes and added it to my water instead.

Ahh yes! Glad you posted this girl. When I was training at the gym my trainer told me not to drink juice and I was shocked when she told me this because I always thought juice was a necessity. Nope! It's not. Like you said, it's extra calories and and full of sugar. Great ValSecret. Thanks for sharing the facts about it.
