There is something going on right now that everyone should know about. I just learned about this a couple of days ago and cannot believe the unspeakable acts big business has done now. On February 4, Representative Rosa DeLauro brought the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009 (HR 875) to both the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the House Committee on Agriculture. This bill not only takes away state control over food regulation but it also bans organic farming in all aspects. Yes, that even means your personal backyard garden! The Food Safety Administration (FSA) would have all control over independent farms, family farms and organic farming operations and slowly bankrupt them. This leaving even more room for corporate factory farms. A leading company in this “food domination” is bio-chemical giant, Monsanto. Let me just also mention that Stanley Greenburg, employee for Monsanto, is Rosa DeLauro’s husband. Those tricky, tricky bastards!
A quick background on Monsanto; they are responsible for the creation of rBGH, unhealthy sugar and soy products hidden in conventional foods and the horrible lawsuits against farmers who would not comply with using their patented seeds. Yes folks, this company found a way to patent the soy bean! Have you ever heard of such garbage? How are they getting away with this? I think I am going to try to patent the potato because I love french fries so much! How do you think that will turn out? Its multi-national corporations like this one that is our enemy. All they want to do is wipe out the independent farmers so they will have all the control over our food industry and agriculture. We cannot let this happen!
The bill states that it will regain safety within our food industry but it is all lies. How can anything be safe when its covered in chemicals and additives? Not to mention, the whole cloning idea. What the hell is that all about? Now they want to get rid of real animals and force us to eat test tube science experiments! Beware people, the FDA approved the sale of cloned livestock last year. So you might not be eating a real animal after all. Organic is the only safe way to go. In passing this bill, all the small farmers would have a lot of trouble complying with the laws since they are remarkably crazy. There will be massive amounts of paperwork, 24 hour GPS tracking of all their animals (with tools that they can’t afford), government entry without warrants, loss of property rights, criminalization of seed banking, fines they cannot pay and forced to use mandatory industrial standards. Talk about Americans losing their rights! Can you imagine a country where the big business corporations have control over all food supply, land, animals and water? That seems very scary to me!
On top of all that Monsanto is trying to get one of its own men, Michael Taylor, back in government to act as the head of food safety. Are they nuts!! Just a reminder that it was Michael who was involved in the rBGH scandal in the 1990’s. He among others in the company felt it was “safe” to force genetically modified meat in our stores without labels and without any warning. Is this someone you want working as the head of your food supply? I don’t think so.
There is so much going on in the food industry that people don’t know about. You think you are eating something because it says “low fat” and “heart healthy” on the box, but your not. These days you need to be smarter than that. These big corporations do not care about the people in this country! I cannot stress that enough. About 90% of the food in your grocery store is crap and unless you are eating natural and organic foods you’re daily chemical intake is insane. Not to mention, all the poor animals who suffer every day on these factory farms. Please know that if you are not eating organic meat or poultry you are digesting a tortured animal that was injected with growth hormones, fed unhealthy food and lived in an area where it bathed in its feces. Do you feel comfortable eating it now? I hope not! And let me just mention that since this country makes most of its money off of corn, because its cheap, they have scientifically created tons of other chemicals and additives from this ingredient. Mostly everything in your pantry contains corn and many forms of it that are not natural. Yuck! Because corn is so cheap they feed it to animals. This has resulted in E coli poisoning, a foodborne illness that kills 60 people and hospitalizes at least 2000 Americans a year. Not to mention the cost of it all which totals to around $405 million. Once again greed has reared its ugly head and we all suffer for it.
Cows are supposed to eat grass, not corn. Feeding it to them is inhumane and unhealthy. Especially, when these companies and industrial farms know this and keep doing it! They know we can get sick as well as the animals and they don’t care. I ask all of you to please read up on these issues and see for yourself. The more we buy organic the cheaper it will be and less money goes toward factory farms and genetically engineered food. We have to make this country a better and safe place, not the government and not big business. Use your voice and stop this bill from being passed. Go to this website, https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml, and find out who your congressman is. Write them and let them know that you are against this bill. Ask them to read it thoroughly and not just make a decision because others are. Lets all help this country get back on its feet together and head it in the right direction!
