As a small business owner or entrepreneur, you can spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on software every year. Most people don't know there are great products out there that you can get for free! It's called open source software. Sometimes the developers will ask for donations to help their cause and it's a very worthy cause - developing software for the masses that does not cost a lot.
Myself and many of the girls here use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, two incredible web browsers that have tons of add-ons. Mozilla has a wonderful add on called Yoono. Yoono is great for managing many social networking profiles, updating status and checking messages.
Tired of updating MS Office? Try OpenOffice! At OpenOffice.org you can learn all about OpenOffice and how it compares to Microsoft. The developers have made some great strides in interoperability in the last few releases. OpenOffice features programs Base, Impress, Writer, Draw, Math and Calc that offer presentations, spreadsheets, word processing and much more.
There are also many wonderful SaaS programs out there for project management. With the number of tasks we all take on at one time, it's great to have a place to store information, track tasks, work with a team and stay on top of your data. My company blog at llsic.wordpress.com has a detailed project management software overview, but here are some to check out: Huddle, Smartsheet, Qtask, Teamwork, and Torch.
