Hey guys,
I was on Strategy Room a couple weeks ago giving my tips on how to stay thin for the holidays. In case you missed it, here are my 'party tips' for all my Valsecrets girls.
Parties are one of the things we can't avoid during the holiday season. They are fun, but unfortunately, a lot of us are not as disciplined as we would like to be when it comes to eating holiday food. Here are some tips on how to keep your figure looking slim, AND attend lots of parties.

1. Make your own food dish: parties are dangerous because most are pot luck and everyone brings fattening food. Make your own healthy dish to bring and eat at the party. You don’t have to tell anyone you brought it.
2. Stay away from the cheese platters: Cheese has lots of calories and the cheese platters are the first served. Unfortunately, that is when we are all hungry and run for the first thing put on the table. Try to eat the veggy platters instead.
3. Eat before you leave home so you’re not starving. Don't fill up on pasta, bread etc. Eat something light like a yogurt or salad. Eat just enough so that all your will power doesn't go out the door when you arrive at the party and smell all the yummy (but very caloric), food.
4. Think beforehand what you will eat and not eat. For example, tell yourself you will eat carbs but no dessert. Or, have only 2 bites of dessert. Make a schedule and it will be easier to follow.
5. Don’t drink too much alcohol: alcohol is empty calories. 1 martini could be 300 calories! You don’t notice, but they add up quickly!
6. Lastly, don’t stuff yourself. It takes our bodies 20 minutes to realize we are full. Enjoy your meal and eat slowly. Spend more time talking, and less time eating!

Enjoy!

Nicola
