Many of us feel that PEACE ON EARTH is so far-fetched when spoken of. We've been at war for years and history keeps repeating itself; wars for territory, money, and power.
Since I was a little girl I would sit and watch the UNICEF commercials and be sad for the children so much less fortunate than me. I would sit there and cry. I would think 'why is this happening'?
As I got older, a war arose and soldiers are being sent to Iraq. I see yellow ribbons on trees, everyone is humbled. I am 10 years old and at school we are assigned to write to a soldier. I write to him; 'Why are you and all the other Americans in Iraq? I don't understand why you have to kill each other to get what you want? Why can't you just talk about it?My teacher doesn't approve the letter and so she rips it up. I went home crying that day to my mother. I didn't understand what I did wrong.
Are we in denial of what is really happening? Do we just shut one eye and act like everything is fine and we have no power or say? I don't think so.
Shutting an eye will only lead to permanent blindness to what is in front of us.
We all desire to live a peaceful life, to feel safe, to be good people. Everyone has a voice to bring peace to this world. The Beatles, Bob Marley, Bob Sinclair bonded to the message of peace in their music, as their music inspires millions of people every day to be peaceful. Every person makes a difference.
My ValSecret to you is; PEACE starts in your home my friends. Start by being kind to your family members, your friends, your coworkers, your neighbors. If you feel that you have mastered that, spread the message to more and more people. Write blogs, compose songs, design art, compile a formula, create a film, send out cards, bumper stickers... whatever you are able to do is one step forward towards something that all human kind really needs...PEACE.
