Sports Sex Appeal By JAMIELYNN

Ladies - I know many of you don't enjoy watching sports and many probably don't understand why so many guys are addicted to them, but you should change the way you think about kicking back with the guys and a game.

Here is my Val Secret - It is sexy when a girl knows sports. Guys like girls who know sports, have a favorite team and can kick back with a beer and watch sports. Also, sports talk isn't a foreign language only known by guys. You can learn it too. Trust me. Here is what I did to get into the game, understand it and be able to talk to guys in a way not many women can.

If you don't know ANYTHING about baseball, football, basketball... read up. The newspaper has a sports section - read it. Or check out espn.com.

If you don't know plays or how a sport is played look it up and read about it.

Watch a few games and try to understand them.

I started looking at games like military battles. I realized that teams were defending their home turfs and the battle consisted of calculated plays. Soon sports look like fun.

Here is what sparked my interest: It was 2002 and the Patriots won the Super Bowl. I watched the game like I never before. When the team won I ran into the streets with the rest of the fans and followed the team along the parade route. I listened to their speeches, pushed my way to the Super Bowl Trophy and boosted people up onto cars for a closer look. It was intense and opened my eyes to a world I really didn't know much about. Now I watch football once in a while and try to watch every playoff game. I also enjoy going to hockey games and seeing live baseball, but I'm not a huge fan of watching baseball from my sofa.

I'm not saying I know everything or want to, but I know enough and you can too. It is empowering. I get it now. No I still don't agree with the screaming at the television or understand why guys wear their team apparel from head-to-toe, but I get it and can enjoy it. Now if you try to get it but don't - at least you tried. Initiative is good. At least you can say I gave it a try and hated it or just do not like sports. At least you can be the educated woman who has formed an opinion through experience not on judgement alone. If you decide to de-code the male sports language - just don't do it for the wrong reasons. Don't do it just to try and pick up guys in a sports bar. Eventually your lack of knowledge will show. Instead do it to understand the sports, understand most men better, and be more well-rounded.

Now when you find yourself sitting on the couch surrounded by screaming men wearing colorful jerseys embroidered with their all-time favorite player's last name on their backs - you aren't sitting there like a couch cushion. Now you can either get into the game or sit back and laugh at how cute they look acting like kids for a couple hours.

If you are in a relationship already and your guy likes sports and could be a sports addict - don't poke fun - show some interest. Make it known you are showing interest and heck maybe you can get him to go to a movie, concert or play... never know.
