I hate to get sick, but who doesn't?!

Here are my 10 Top ValSecrets on how I avoid getting sick:

1. Sleep -I try to get more than 5 hours of a deep rested sleep. Sleep recuperates your body. This is definitely my number one way to avoid getting sick.

2. Eat Healthy - For every meal my goal is to have some sort of nutritional value. I also like to balance my carbs vs. my protein intake. This allows me to have energy which fights off potential germs.

3. Don't touch your eyes- Your eyes are the most sensitive exposed organ. They are also vulnerable to germs. Don't touch your eyes unless you have washed your hands thoroughly.

4. Blow your nose- When your nose gets clogged up, it's your body telling you to clear it out! That's what you must do. If you don't blow your nose immediately, it could potentially become post nasal drip and eventually into a cough. Blow your nose.

5. Stretch - Stretching is a great way to release stress and possibly toxins in your body. Stress and toxins are one of the two top ways of people getting sick. Stretch it out!

6. Eat and Drink Anti-oxidants- Foods and drinks like tea, berries, garlic, onions, soy, broccoli, cabbage, and whole grains are naturally occurring compounds protect the body from harmful, excess free radicals, sweeping them up before they can cause damage that allow us to get sick.

7. Take Vitamins or Medication even with Tiny Symptons- Vitamin C, B, A also Zinc work wonders for preventing colds. They tend to give you a boost of energy. I also might take an allergy pill before I start the day, because I sneeze all day long if I don't take it. Controlling my allergies is a key element to my health.

8. Hydrate - H2O, Water, Tea, Non-Sugar Drinks. Dehydration means that your body doesn't have enough water in it to keep it working right.

9. Sweat it out- Take a brisk walk or run to break a sweat to release the toxins in your body. Another great trick is to bounce on a rebounder aka trampoline it works wonders.

10. Dress appropriately - If it's cold cover up. Hats, gloves, scarf, layers of clothing, the whole works. You don't want to be vulnerable to the cold. It will activate any germs that are waiting to attack your body.

When Swine Flu broke out our local health authority told us not to cough in our hands because that is how the virus is spread. Another recipe for longevity I read about was to use dental floss; this would relieve our immune system and add a year or two!

WASH YOUR HANDS!!! You should *always* use soap (water does not get rid of germs) and it should last as long as it takes to sing the "ABC's" song. =)
