I was inspired to write this post because I have been exposed to so many different cultures and experiences lately and have heard some rather hurtful things about excluding people based on their religion or their ethnic/ racial background. I understand that we all grow up with certain cultures and beliefs but in the end I think it is most important to understand and become aware of our own perceptions and beliefs and see how they might limit us and really become conscious and work through them so that we are able to embrace all different cultures and all different religions and come to the understanding that ultimately what matters is being surround by good people. Most all religions are based on the same principles of love, compassion, and understanding and somewhere along the years people became obsessed with dogma and being better than others and the message of love was forgotten. Let us all remember to understand everyone and embrace difference and remember that in the end love is all that matters...

I really like your post and agree with your writing. I would also add that the love of ones self is perhaps the first and most important love to have. Only then can we truly give of ourselves openly and freely. Sometimes poeple seek happiness by giving love only to be dissapointed when it is not returned or welcomed. Then they are sad and lonely. We must first be able to just "be" with ourselves, to be ok with who we are, what we are, and love who we are; defects of character and all. Another thing I would add is that love should be given sometimes with no expectation of reciprocation, like a loving act, a caring word, a simple gesture of kindness. For instance, if you get upset when you hold the door for someone and they do not say "thank you". I would sugges that you not look for the thanks. For after all, isn't it the act of doing something out of love for another human that you are trying to achieve? If you do something with an expectation of something in return, like a thank you, you are giving with condition. And expectations are resentments waiting to happen. Sometimes it is far more beneficial to simply give with no expectation of something in return. This however is different within a relationship but in terms of people we don't know it holds some truth. Another saying I like is that it is far better to be understanding than understood. And acceptance is one of the keys to serenity, peace, and happiness. I really liked your post. It reminded me of "I don't know what I don't know" which I remind myself quite often and in tern, I remain teachable. Namaste :)

I agree! Diversity conciousness is key, my favorite piece of jewelry is a hand holding a coexistance charm. We truly hold the key to happiness in our hands, it's just that too many people don't realize it. Limolou, I love tha Pablo Neruda poem, I just received a collection of his love poems for Christmas and read it recently. Best to all! xo

If it's not all around you, step away, to a place that will comfort this wonderful and exciting need of love... a room, a place, a park, or a peaceful area or with good friends...It may takes a whole orchestra to play on Loving, and the tune will be unforgettable...
