I went out to a wine tasting event at Novita Bistro and lounge in Metuchen, NJ. The food was excellent and the wine was even better. They served us a five course meal. By the time the dessert came out we were already full but I finished the dessert because it was too good to not eat it. This girl Dana that I met that night gave me a great tip. She poured salt over the dessert so she would stop eating it. She said she does that all the time. That is a great idea for people who have to eat everything that is in front of them-like myself.

I always clean my plate too...but I did try the other day and put salt on some leftover cake that was in the fridge, and guess what...I had to throw it out!!!! So I end up making myself an espresso and a nice cold glass of "good ole water" :-)

I like the idea, but not sure if I can do that to perfectly fine food , especially dessert :) However, its a great tip for people who feel they over eat and don't know when to stop.

A little off topic, but still on the same page...I crave salty foods sometimes.i don't know if it's hormones or what?! I'll eat lemons w /salt, banana peppers & drink the juice, etc. it's so good, not fattening. It never fails, every time I eat salty foods, I feel bloated. that salt realy makes me retain fluids. I drink lots of water & exercise fiercely everyday. I would feel better rigth now, if I was 5-10 lbs lighter. But, every time I see a really skinny girl, I think, that girl doesn't eat or has an eating disorder. I'm usually right. I don't like the feeling of hunger.

Wow! I have as Oprah says "clean plate syndrome" myself. I am definitely going to try this. Also, a good friend once taught me another nice tip. When going out for food and cocktails with friends...Order an appetizer and you still feel hungry, wait about 20 minutes. By then you either feel satisfied OR you will need to order a salad or a meal..... That got me from a size 12 to a size 4-6 within a few months and we went out EVERY night back then. I ate whatever I wanted.... cheese fries, burgers, wings, etc. But I just ate normal portions and voila... I had a better figure than I did at 18 and I kept it for several years (until I had my kids). Now I can use some tips on how to shed the baby weight after 2 years...anyone care to share?
