Wing Tsun (pronounced wing chun;) is a unique Chinese, direct and effective martial art that was developed to enable smaller defenders to defeat larger and stronger attackers. It was originally developed by women for women. In fact, women are often the ones who pick up Wing Tsun quicker.
I'm a guy and I've been practicing it for 8 months , started with some basic classes to help me get fit, but I loved it so much that it escalated to more serious kung-fu training.
You do not need to be in shape to start Wing Tsun training. Everybody trains at his or her own level fitness, pushing just a little bit more every time. I noticed an increase in fitness, joint flexibility, and general strength after just a few weeks. Not only does this reduce stress and hypertension, it allows for quicker reactions and improves overall muscle tone.
Appropriate age is between 18-72, and depending on your age, you will notice some good skills after 3-6 months. Of course, Wing Tsun is not for everyone! You need to have a 'desire' to improve yourself physically and mentally. Make sure that you have a positive attitude and don't have any intentions to misuse this very practical and direct style of martial art.
It's a great way to build up your confidence, improve general fitness, develop striking force, coordination, and best of all, it can come in handy for Self Defense!!!! I'm looking forward to continue practicing this martial art for many years..it's incredibly amazing...try it!!!
