I was recently put in a very awkward and conflicting situation. I discovered (or basically caught it with my own eye) that the boyfriend of one of my good friends was cheating on her! He knew that I had seen him and ignored me at first. Immediately, I felt so angry with him for doing that to my friend, that I wanted to call her right away and turn him in. BUT...then I began to think...Was it MY place to tell her the truth? I didn't want to upset her since I knew how much she loved him, but I couldn't let him make a fool out of her. Plus, I was friends with both her and him for years...I was so torn as to what to do! After letting myself cool down and evaluate the situation, I decided to confront him instead. I told him that he had exactly 24 hours to tell his girlfriend the truth or else I would tell her. He really respected me for allowing him to be the one to tell her, even though I lost all respect for him. So my secret is...when you obtain some information that can potentially hurt someone you love, allow yourself time to think as to the best way to handle the situation before you run and tell. By the way...my friend broke up with the cheater after he confessed and is happier than ever.

I have been there. Only difference that it backfired on me. I told and the person denied it and so I was the liar. The next time it happened to me, I didn't tell. I just kept it to myself. I knew it was a matter of time that they would break up anyway. Just know your audience. Glad he confessed.
