As I write this I just got over having two major anxiety attacks. I so want to put this in a vlog, but in the last two hours every time I talk or think about it the crying is too hard and I can't talk. So I went to the doctor today. I've been having a shortness of breathe and I had a cold with a cough that lasted too long. Tues night I decided Thursday was too long to wait for my Dr's appt, so I went to the ER. They took a chest xray and gave me a breathing treatment. Told me I had bronchitis, gave me an inhaler and antibiotic and sent me on my way. I followed up with a pulmonary Dr. today (Thursday) and went through a lot of breathing tests. What was the end result? Here come the tears....I have asthma from smoking and my lung capacity is VERY low for someone my age. I must stop smoking or I will need an inhaler for the rest of my life and will develop emphysema shortly. My secret...I'm going to be 28 this October...I'm not going to live forever. If you're smoking try to stop now! I'm scared. I've tried to quit before and it didn't work. On to plan B I guess. All I know is that I'm too young for this to happen....I've never been slapped so hard into reality.

I'm sorry. That's some tough news, but probably exactly what you needed to hear. I was a dipper (Skoal, etc.) since I was about 16. Then, a friend of mine, who was also a dipper and was younger than me, was diagnosed with oral cancer. That was a pretty big wake-up-call. Prior to that, I would always 'quit' for a month or two and then start back up again with the infamous words, 'I'll just have one.' I didn't finally quit for good until I told myself, 'I can never do that again...ever.' We're creatures of habit, so it can be hard to break out of that routine -- the cigarette after lunch or what have you. It's not going to be easy, but it gets progressively easier as the months go by. Once you make that commitment to yourself it gets a whole lot easier, and then you can focus on a bunch of new and healthy habits. Good Luck.
