The Benefits of Being in Higher Elevation

I am planning a retreat in the Catskill Mountains of New York and I have been pondering why the divine wants me to have a retreat in the middle of the winter in snowy mountains.

Higher Elevation vs Sea Level

There is a thought that being on the beach is very beneficial for your health, as most people connect it to being relaxing and stress-free. This may be true. However, there is great power in being in the higher elevation.

Historically, all the great sages, masters, yogis, prophets have gone to a higher elevation to go into samadhi (deep meditation).

Scientifically, It is known that, "The effects of high altitude on humans are considerable. The percentage oxygen saturation of hemoglobin determines the content of oxygen in the blood. After the human body reaches around 2,100 m (7,000 feet) above sea level, the saturation of oxyhemoglobin begins to plummet"

The Mountains Healing Magic

The Himalayan Mountains are known to be the doorway to spirituality, then there is Sacred Mount Shasta a portal to multi-dimensions. I haven't been to either one, but from my experience with the Catskills Mountains, is at about 5000 ft in elevation, I have had some magnificent experiences along with the groups of people that have joined me at the retreats there.

In higher elevation, the energy of this elevation creates a magnetic field of which allows your body to also go magnetic and it is amplified in cold temperatures. The reason for this is because the amounts of breaths you take and how deep you breathe in. Advanced Yogi's have the ability to breath deeply, which as a result creates longer breaths that oxygenate your cells more and keep your body charged with energy. In the higher altitudes there is less oxygen, therefore the body acclimates itself and as a result, benefits from this.

This magnetic field that the body creates in cold and higher altitudes is what allows for deep healing, broader awareness, and multidimensional experiences to happen. This deepening of breath is the pranic force that allows us to upgrade.

Chilly Meditations

When we think about spiritual retreats, we think of warmly weathered getaways like Costa Rica, Mexico, Bali, don't we? They are wondrous destinations with pleasant weather. The thing about spirituality is that it's the concern of your spirit or soul rather than the outside material world and things. Therefore, when in a warm weathered place for a spiritual retreat we are tempted by the Maya, the illusion of the phenomenal world. When it is a cold, snowy weathered place our distractions are less and our silence is deeper. There is an inward process that is happening as we are hibernating within our bodies and feeling this so deeply in the white covered mountains.

I look forward to sharing this experience with you, February 22-25th, 2018, Soul Rising - Winter Retreat in Phonecia, NY at the Menla Mountain Center.
